On the weekend I started my PotatOS....
The first few steps were to find images and reference of the shape and how she looked. For those twelve people in the world who HAVEN'T played portal 2, GLaDOS (the protagonist from the first game) is impassioned... in a potato. You end up carrying her around for the second half of the game.

Simply a good reference I found, dimensions worked out and traced off my monitor to give me the correct size and profile.
I hate doing things with 'fake' materials, hard to explain, but if I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it right! The body of the potato is carved from a large chunk of polystyrene.
Before...
During....
AFTER!
Next stage for my Potato is to paint her up, and to get her looking like a real potato. To do that, besides spending some time getting the paint job looking real is for a layer of dirt over the paint to finish it off in specific places, glued on of cause. I also have to make some small green shoots for roots which will be around the base, around ten or so should do it.
For the eye, I went to Bunnigns and bought a collection of metal washers which should work out to be the correct size. I think she is going to be a tiny but top heavy though.... they weigh quite a bit...
